Under the leadership of our founding CEO, AJ Steynberg, SOBEC Aviation International (Pty) LTD has managed multiple successful Airline and Charter Operation Start-ups on behalf of African based customers through its consultancy division.
The company’s proactive approach in placing aircraft on suitable Lease contracts lead to establishment of the largest single privately owned Embraer Brasilia operation in the world. SOBEC Aviation developed the entire Operations, Maintenance and training platforms from scratch. The customer now operates throughout the world on lease projects with airlines in Africa and the Middle East.
From our founding base in Johannesburg, South Africa, SOBEC Aviation International has an extensive fleet of Managed Aircraft for global clients. SOBEC Aviation takes pride in achieving maximum commercial efficiencies with a stringent safety protocol for any aircraft managed, converting corporate aircraft ownership into a commercially viable investment.
SOBEC Aviation has actively grown involvement in the management of leased aircraft, playing a pivotal role in the Sourcing of Aircraft for clients and effectively managing the asset for the operator. Managing aircraft in often hostile territories has ensured that the company has developed a unique insight and resulted in protocols, operating leases, route analyses and business model developments that ensure consistent efficiency globally.
Key Achievements
- Consultant to Sahara African Aviation (Nelspruit, South Africa) – Established a new company by development of the Operations, Maintenance, and Training Platforms which resulted in the largest single privately owned Embraer Brasilia operation in the world. Sahara now operates throughout the world on wet lease projects with several airlines and private clients in Africa and the Middle East.
- Full-Service Provider to Kenmare Moma Sands – SOBEC Aviation provides aircraft to a European mining and exploration corporation with operations into Mozambique.
- Startup Airline Services for Mahogany Air – SOBEC Aviation in conjunction with Sahara established a startup airline in Zambia called Mahogany Air.
- Aircraft Management Contract for Swift Flite – SOBEC Aviation established an Embraer 120 Brasilia operation on behalf of Swift Flite (Pty) LTD in Johannesburg, South Africa. From ground level, SOBEC Aviation procured and set up a contract with one of the largest petroleum companies in the world, integrating the customer and operator. The contract continues to run today providing transport of employees between Johannesburg and Mozambique.
